This week in Abigail's schooling, we did the letter Q. We practiced writing Qs and saying their sounds and all of that fun stuff, but Wednesday we did the fun stuff. We learned about the Quetzal. What in the world is a Quetzal, you may ask. Its a bird from South America that is super pretty and has a tail that can be up to 3 feet long. We looked it up on line and saw real pictures of it and even listened to the sound that it makes. Then we colored one and cut it out for the front of her quetzal "costume" ( a paper grocery bag cut up into a vest like shirt) and we put a three foot "feather" (more paper) on the back side of her and away she went. She was a quetzal for most of the day and a little of thursday also! She had a snack of pretzels, because of course a quetzal eats a pretzel, and the day was complete. She "flew" around the house all day saying "qua-qua!" (She asked me if we could pretend that the quetzal says "qua" instead of the noise we heard on line!) I tried to capture it on camera, but this is as close as I could get. Wish you could hear her sound effects!

"Q" is for Quetzal
