Extreme Ring-Around-the-Rosies

Well, it is beautiful this time of year here in Texas. The sun is shining and the bugs are still few, the humidity is just thinking about rising and, other than the daily high pollen count warnings, this is a great time of year. The kids are SO enjoying it, too. We played ring-around-the-rosies outside for what seemed like ages the past few days. I'm not sure how it began exactly, but they now have their own version of the classic game. I told Christian last night that it was likely to be the new sport joining the X-Games tour this summer. So here is how it goes:

step one: hold hands and begin to sing the song while going in an approximate circle
step two: (if you're Abigail) pick up momentum and begin to giggle wildly, in turn creating wild giggles in your partner.
step three: Use your gained momentum and at just the right moment, fling your brother into the air, making sure to get his feet above his head, and then let go!
step four: wait to see if your tough brother cries or not (a.k.a see if you're in trouble or not) and then begin again.

Seriously, the kid goes flying and thuds so hard that it makes even my neighbors cringe and smile that worried smile until he gets up and says "Do agin!" (Yes, we have drawn spectators to this new sport. It reminds me a bit of discus. Glad that boy is so tough!) I guess the thrill of flying in the air is worth it for him!

But on the serious side of things, I have to report that God is doing such amazing things! Yes, there are great things going on with the church, but mostly I am just so excited about what God is doing in our hearts. Christian and I are just so blessed in Him! He is changing the way we look at things and that is even better than changing the things that we asked Him to change...because it means that even if hard circumstances come, we are secure. If He just gave us everything we asked for, we would find our security in things that fade and fail. But when He changes your heart and perspective, gives you a true love for your circumstances, there is no greater joy and peace available! What a good God we serve!
