We celebrated the 4t of July today and had such a blast. Yesterday, we did a craft and devotion (and of course snack) themed around the 4th of July and correlated it to our freedom that Jesus has given to us. Galations 5:1 says, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free" So we have been talking a bunch about freedom and getting really excited about all of the red, white and blue and flags and stars and such, so today was great.
First, Daddy took us to Paris Coffee Co for a family "date" (a date to my four-year-old is anytime that you spend with someone you really love that is special and usually includes coffee or food.). We ALL got coffee and a bagel and sat there for EVER which was so fun...to not be in a rush to get anywhere.
Then we headed over to the old side of town and got set up to watch the parade with some friends and that turned out to be so cool. Well, really hot actually but you know what I mean, right? There were horses and firetrucks and tiny semi trucks and a marching band and a ton of old cars and Seth's favorite...TRACTORS! Oh boy, it was a blast! Abigail ate cotton candy and a bunch of candy that they threw to her and she was hot pink in the cheeks by the time we left. Then it was naptime.
Then we had friends over for a BBQ (called a cook-out if you're a texan because we didnt actually use any barbecue sauce) and the kids played in the pool and splashed and had a grand old time. We ate carne asada and finished up with quite patriotic looking desserts: fresh strawberries and bluberries topped with whipped cream. YUM!
Then Daddy went to the church event and Seth and I played cars while Abigail wrote a note to her gramma and poppy before bedtime.
All in all, it was the most fun 4th of July ever!
