For our last family afternoon, we decided to do Proverbs 2:4, and talk about searching for wisdom like we search for hidden treasure. So, we had a treasure/scavenger hunt! It was so fun. They each had their own lists and a basket and off they went to find their "treasure." Abigail got a little frustrated when things didnt just jump into her basket, and it was the perfect opportunity to tell her that wisdom is like that. Its right there, waiting to be found, but it requires effort to be obtained and perseverance. Of course, I used words a 4 year old can understand, but this is the concise version. Then, in her list was a "puzzle" of sorts. She had one letter underlined in each of the items that she needed to gather and when she was done, she sat at the table and filled them into the empty spaces at the bottom of her page that I had drawn. Her letters made up the answer to the question "Why should we search for wisdom? what will we find?" the answer was "God is good," of course! We finished off with a bowl of cornflakes that had chocolate bunny crackers (yes, they gate chocolate crackers!) hidden throughout the bowl and as a family we searched for that treasure! Yummy chocolate bunny crackers...mmm!
